The Trainee is primarily responsible for learning all aspects of a Customer Delivery Specialist role, including the safe and efficient operation of the delivery vehicle, and all duties necessary to provide world class service to our customers. Upon completion of training, the Trainee is responsible for performing the Customer Delivery Specialist function on various routes, (including open and vacation routes). Responsibilities include conducting pre-post-trip inspection on truck according to DOT requirements, safely driving and maneuvering a truck having a gross vehicle weight of under or over 26,000 pounds, servicing all scheduled customers by the end of shift according to PBV and customer standards, delivering product to store, executing delivery on all promotions, unloading, merchandising and rotating product in all accounts to PBV and customer standards, establishing positive working relationships with primary contact at each account, obtaining required signatures or store stamps to ensure accurate settlement of invoices, communicating issues to appropriate store personnel and management, following all DOT and FMCSA regulations and company rules, and other duties as assigned. Minimum requirements include a high school diploma or equivalent, valid Driver’s License, ability to pass a DOT physical prior to first day of employment, ability to obtain a CDL permit by the 15th business day and license within 45 business days if not currently held, positive attitude, detail orientation, basic financial calculation skills, reliable attendance, strong customer satisfaction focus, good communication skills, ability to perform heavy physical labor, ability to work in a fast paced environment, self-starter with follow-up skills, ability to work in a team environment, meeting PBV driving qualifications, and working hours necessary to complete assigned tasks. Mental and physical functions include repetitive job requiring normal mental or visual effort, constant walking, standing, lifting up to 56 pounds, pushing/pulling 300-2400 pounds with pallet jack, frequent sitting, occasional climbing. Equipment used includes cars/trucks, handheld computer, pallet jacks, hand trucks, phone, calculator, and general office equipment. No supervisory responsibilities.
