As a Special Education Teacher Resource , you will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of our students by developing engaging lesson plans, managing classroom behavior, and collaborating with a dedicated team of professionals.

Your Key Responsibilities:

  • Lesson Plan Development: Craft dynamic lesson plans each week that cater to diverse learning needs, ensuring they align with content standards and assessment procedures.
  • Supervision of Paraprofessionals: Lead and guide paraprofessionals in the classroom, ensuring a supportive learning environment for all students.
  • Implementation of PBIS Program: Drive the Positive Behavior Intervention and Supports (PBIS) program, tracking behavior points and maintaining communication with parents/guardians.
  • Classroom Management: Foster a safe and engaging classroom atmosphere, adapting curriculum and employing effective teaching strategies for students with various disabilities.
  • IEP Meetings and Documentation: Actively participate in IEP meetings, providing updates and ensuring all documentation is completed accurately and timely.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with staff and external agencies to create a holistic educational experience for each student.
  • Instructional Planning: Design learning experiences based on data, conducting assessments to track student progress throughout the year.
  • Professional Development: Engage in ongoing training and development opportunities to enhance your teaching skills and student outcomes.

What We’re Looking For:

  • Education & Credentials: A Bachelor's degree is required; a Master's degree in Special Education is highly recommended. A valid CA Special Education Credential is essential.
  • Experience: 2-5 years of experience working with students with learning and/or social-emotional needs, particularly in a special day class setting.
  • Skills: Strong written and verbal communication skills, along with excellent interpersonal and organizational abilities. Proficiency in standard software applications is a must.
  • Certifications & Clearances: DOJ/FBI Live Scan Background & TB Clearance are required. Pro-Act, CPI, and/or CPR certification is preferred.

Physical Demands:

  • Environment: Occasional exposure to dust, pollen, and fumes.
  • Activity: Frequent tasks involving reaching, handling, standing, walking, and lifting items, with or without reasonable accommodations.
  • Sensory: Ability to perform essential job functions in moderate to high noise levels, with or without assistive devices.
